– I don't know about you, But I practically live my life in Slack, Or so it seems sometimes. And for as useful as it can be, Slack can also get pretty annoying. So let me introduce you to
a few of my favorite ways To eliminate annoyances in Slack And make your life at least
a little more pleasant. All right, first, that sound, You know what I'm talking about, right? It's like a persistent little woodpecker Banging his furious little
bird beak on your door. Well, precisely no one I
know seems to realize this But you can send that blasted bird Off to the great Slack
beyond where it belongs And it'll take you all
of 12 seconds to do. So in the Slack desktop app, Just click on your combly little face Up in the upper right
corner of the window, Then select preferences,
scroll down to the sound And appearance section and
change the notification sound For messages to really anything Other than that default
knock brush setting. Believe me, whatever you pick
will be a massive improvement. Now second, while we're
thinking about notifications, The next time you need a break
from all the incoming noise I've got four beautiful
characters for you to remember. Are you ready? Here they are. Slash D-N-D. That's Do not disturb, by the way, Not Dungeons and Dragons. Just type /dnd into the
regular, old message box Anywhere in Slack and you'll zip yourself

Right into the app's
notification pausing system. You can pick a specific date and time To keep your notifications off until And Slack won't interrupt you once Until that moment arrives. Last, but not least for today, One final annoyance eliminator
for you to file away And it's all about gifs. Yes, gifs not gifs. I'm taking a stand on that one. Now, don't get me wrong. I love gifs as much as the next geek But sometimes all the dancing animations Inside a Slack channel
can get to be a bit much. Well, here's your answer, slash collapse. Type those nine powerful
characters into any Slack window And boom, just like
that, every gif in sight Will be tucked away behind a toggle. It might just be the most useful Slack distraction blaster of them all. Be sure to check back
